Applauded in the South and criticized in the North, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam found himself under renewed pressure last weekend. As he was on a tour in south Lebanon, the deadly collapse of a residential building in Tripoli on Sunday thrust his government back into the spotlight.The tragedy killed 14 residents and followed several similar incidents in the impoverished northern city, where warnings about unsafe buildings had gone unheeded for years.
