Iran-US talks already on fragile footing

As preparations were underway for broader Iran-U.S. talks scheduled for Friday in Turkey, with the participation of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, the Sultanate of Oman, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, multiple complications emerged late Tuesday.These included Iran’s request to move the meeting from Istanbul to Oman, as well as its rejection of the participation of any of the countries that had been invited. Signs of confusion quickly followed. Some sources in Iran denied to L’Orient-Le Jour that such a request was made, while others confirmed it.
