The Israeli army carried out strikes on Lebanese territory on Tuesday, killing a Hezbollah member, Hussein Ahmad Mardina, in Batoulieh (Sour district). According to initial reports, the strike targeted his motorcycle, but residents interviewed by our correspondent in South Lebanon, described a direct targeting of the individual as he was walking along the road. The Israeli army has not yet commented on these strikes.

During the day, the Israeli army also dropped several stun grenades on different localities: Boustan (Sour district), Aita al-Shaab and Mais al-Jabal (Marjayoun district), as well as the outskirts of Rmeish (Bint Jbeil district). In Rmeish, the grenade landed near a shepherd but caused no injuries, according to our correspondent.

Hezbollah underground site

The Israeli army also addressed the strike that occurred Monday evening in the Nabatieh region, which killed two people. In a message posted on X by the army’s Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, Israel claimed to have "eliminated Hezbollah terrorists operating in an underground site belonging to the party in the Nabatieh region," accusing Hezbollah of "violating the cease-fire by attempting to restore the targeted site."

The two victims were identified as Samer Hoteit, from Doueir, and Ahmad Abdel Nabi Ramadan al-Sayed Ahmad, an Egyptian civilian. Hezbollah did not confirm whether these victims were members of the group.

On Monday night, after 11:30 p.m., two drones dropped two bombs on a house in the locality of Yaroun, in Bint Jbeil district. Then, at 1 a.m. Tuesday, another drone dropped a third bomb on the same place, according to our correspondent.

While the cease-fire monitoring committee in Lebanon (known as the "mechanism") is temporarily suspended, and two meetings scheduled for January have been postponed, the Israeli army, despite the cease-fire reached on November 27, 2024, continues to occupy at least five positions on Lebanese territory and carries out almost daily bombings on South Lebanon and the Bekaa, which was spared on Tuesday.
