BEIRUT — A 27-day-old baby has died of hypothermia in the Gaza Strip, as a wave of severe winter cold continues to batter the war-ravaged enclave, still under an Israeli blockade that prevents the entry of emergency supplies.
This new death brings to eight the number of children who have died of hypothermia in the Palestinian enclave since the beginning of winter, according to the latest figures released Saturday by the local Health Ministry.

The ministry also reported the death of another person killed Friday by Israeli forces, while six others wounded in separate incidents were hospitalized in the territory.
Since the cease-fire on Oct. 10, 2025, 464 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire, with 1,275 more injured.
In total, the Israeli offensive that began on Oct. 7, 2023, killed at least 71,548 dead and 171,353 wounded, with many missing persons still unaccounted for beneath the rubble across the devastated enclave.
