A new radio series sheds light on the richness of Arab philosophy

While we too often associate the birth of philosophy with the Greeks, the Arab world also developed a remarkably broad and coherent system of thought as early as the 8th century which brought into question themes of being, reason, knowledge and urban planning. This philosophical tradition not only gave birth to aspiring ancient texts, but also built its own systems of analysis, bridged science, metaphysics, ethics and poetry, developing an independent reflection whose depth and rigor at times surpassed what Europe would discover only centuries later.
