Local residents found the body of a 17-year-old boy in the town of Sheikh Ayash in the Akkar plain foothills of northern Lebanon, prompting a security investigation amid suspicions of a family-related crime, L'Orient Today's correspondent in the north reported.
A unit from the Lebanese Army, along with forensic investigators, arrived at the scene and began investigations to uncover the circumstances of the crime. According to preliminary information, it seems the victim was severely beaten with sharp objects, leading to his death.
Initial suspicion is centered on the victim’s brother-in-law, our correspondent reported, as security agencies are pursuing the victim’s sister and her husband, who fled to an unknown location.
A team from the Lebanese Red Cross transported the body to Abdallah Al-Rassi Government Hospital for examination by a forensic doctor.
In a separate incident back in August, a 27-year-old man was accused of killing his uncle, in the town of Sheikh Ayash as well, after a family dispute took place.
