The U.S. Department of Defence approved this weekend “the potential sale” of M1085A2 and M1078A2 Medium Tactical Vehicles and related equipment to Lebanon, for an estimated cost of $90.5 million. This batch of military equipment was released by the Trump administration following the controversy sparked last month by the sudden cancellation of Lebanese Army Chief General Rodolph Haykal’s visit to Washington.The incident had raised fears of a deterioration in the relationship between the army and its main supplier and financial backer, the United States, which has been accusing the army and the government of not acting firmly enough to disarm Hezbollah.
