The Sursock Museum is expanding its educational mission with the launch of "Soksok parmi les couleurs, un voyage dans l'art libanais" (Soksok Among the Colors, a Journey through Lebanese Art), a new book created in partnership with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and supported by the Italian government. Designed to engage young readers, the book offers a joyful yet structured introduction to Lebanese modern art, a heritage often overlooked by new generations.To guide this artistic journey, the museum enlisted the Samandal Comics collective, which created Soksok, a black cat inspired by illustrator Lena Merhej’s own Zaytoun."We wanted a different cat, not necessarily a beautiful one," Merhej told L’Orient-Le Jour.
