Reconstruction work is underway on the Qamar Bridge in the Wadi Khaled region of Akkar, which connects the area to Syria, according to our correspondent in the North.

This bridge, serving as an official border crossing with Syria, was destroyed by Israeli air strikes on Nov. 27, 2024, just hours before a cease-fire agreement intended to end the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel was to take effect.

Two other border posts were also destroyed that day, including the Arida crossing in the same region. The overnight attacks caused significant material damage and left more than a dozen people wounded, including members of the General Security forces.

Mohammad Souleiman, MP for Akkar, inspected the site on Monday to oversee the reconstruction of the General Security post, which has been severely damaged since the attack.

He stated that “the reopening of all northern border crossings to Syria is an urgent need for all border regions, given their role in organizing the flow of entries and exits to and from the country, and in shortening travel distances for many citizens.” He emphasized “their financial importance in boosting commercial exchanges in the area.”

The MP also noted that reconstruction work is underway at the Dboussi border crossing in Akkar.
