American President Donald Trump stated on Friday during his press conference that the United States was "with Lebanon until the end."

Asked about a specific timetable for disarming Hezbollah, the head of the White House claimed that his administration was going to “try to restore order in Beirut' He described Lebanon as a "great country, with brilliant people." "It's a country known for its teachers, its doctors, and has an incredible history. We hope to bring it back to what it was," he added.

His remarks were made as Hezbollah has emerged very weakened from the war it fought for over a year against Israel, following the opening of the support front in South Lebanon. This war later turned into open war between September and November 2024. Hezbollah's leader Hassan Nasrallah and many high-ranking military officials of the Shiite party were killed by Israeli strikes.

A cease-fire was then concluded on Nov.27, 2024, which has since been frequently violated almost daily by the Hebrew state.

The reestablishment of the state's monopoly on arms, which involves the disarmament of militias like Hezbollah and Palestinian camps, is one of the major objectives of President Joseph Aoun, elected last January, and the government subsequently formed by Nawaf Salam.

Earlier this week Donald Trump announced a truce aimed at ending the "12-day War" opposing Tehran and Tel Aviv. While the Lebanese political scene feared a potential involvement of Hezbollah, Tehran's ally, in this conflict, the Shiite party ultimately did not participate.

In mid-May, in a speech delivered at the Saudi-American Economic Forum in Riyadh, the Republican president mentioned the country of the Cedars, stating his wish to "help it as much as possible to build" a "better future." "The new president (Joseph Aoun) and the new Prime Minister (Nawaf Salam) have for the first time in decades brought a new chance to create a more productive partnership with the United States," he added.
