BEIRUT — Lebanese President Joseph Aoun will travel to Amman on Tuesday for an official visit to Jordan, the Lebanese presidency said in a statement on Monday.
Aoun is scheduled to meet with King Abdullah II during the trip, which comes at the invitation of the Jordanian monarch, according to a post from the presidency's official account on social media platform X.
"The visit will be an opportunity to consult on multiple topics of mutual interest and discuss current regional developments," the statement said, adding that Aoun will be accompanied by a delegation.
Since taking office, Aoun has visited several Arab capitals in an effort to strengthen ties and reintegrate Lebanon into the Arab diplomatic fold. His outreach comes amid signs of waning Iranian and Hezbollah influence in Lebanon, following more than a year of an attrition war with Israel that has weakened Hezbollah's military power.
On a visit to Baghdad on June 1, Aoun called for the creation of a "common market" among Arab countries.
Aoun and King Abdullah last held talks in April, following Jordan’s arrest of individuals linked to a Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated network that authorities said had plotted attacks in the kingdom after undergoing training in Lebanon.
