The Internal Security Forces (ISF) announced Monday the start of asphalting work on a section of the Beirut airport road, as part of a project within the larger rehabilitation of the route connecting the airport to the capital, over a distance of eight kilometers.

According to an ISF statement, the work will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, Wednesday, June 11, and Thursday, June 12, on the ramp connecting the highway to the airport, before the tunnels. The operations will be carried out on a single lane and "will not lead to a traffic cut-off," clarify the authorities, urging motorists to follow on-site instructions and avoid the area to limit traffic jams.

The infrastructure along this road, which runs through the southern suburbs, was heavily damaged in the recent Israeli offensive against Lebanon. Prime Minister Nawaf Salam previously highlighted that "the airport road is the first contact visitors have with Lebanon," while Public Works Minister Fayez Rassamny stated in April that the project should be completed "in the next two or three months."
