Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam arrived in Baghdad Friday afternoon to participate in the 34th Arab League Summit scheduled for Saturday.
Salam is accompanied by Foreign Minister Joe Rajji and Economy Minister Amer Bsat. Salam was welcomed by Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein and the Secretary-General of the government, Hamid Ghazi.
The prime minister emphasized "the historical role of Baghdad in building bridges among Arab brothers" and stressed "the importance of Arab coordination in facing common challenges." The Iraqi foreign minister highlighted "the importance of this visit to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and Lebanon."
He added, "Holding the Arab League Summit in Baghdad takes place under exceptional regional and international conditions, which require the unification of efforts to face challenges and strengthen security, stability and sustainable development in the region."
