A shooting exchange Saturday evening between two young men at the Abu Ali roundabout in Tripoli (North Lebanon), following a collision between their two motorcycles, killed a passerby and injured another. The victims, both minors, were passing by the scene by chance and were hit by stray bullets, according to information reported by L'Orient Today's correspondent in the north.

Ahmad al-Massoul and his cousin Issa al-Massoul were taken to the Islamic Hospital in Tripoli for treatment. The first succumbed to his injuries shortly after his admission. As for the second, he is still hospitalized and in stable condition.

Following the incident, the Lebanese army deployed significant resources to restore calm and prevent any escalation, while a climate of anger and tension prevailed in the area.

The city of Tripoli regularly experiences security incidents. Under the leadership of Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar and the general director of the Internal Security Forces (ISF), General Imad Osman, the police recently implemented a comprehensive security plan for the month of Ramadan in March. During his visit to Tripoli a few days ago, Culture Minister Ghassan Salameh stated that Tripoli "first needs security."
