Lebanon's heritage uplifted by reinvigorated efforts to protect, preserve and repair
Protecting the National Museum's collection, registering Jabal Amel's fortresses with UNESCO, rebuilding urban heritage with traditional techniques. Lebanon's heritage advocates and experts are working collectively to recover from the war.
Cultural Minister Ghassan Salameh paid homage to a foundational element of Lebanese heritage during a speech at the World Heritage ceremony on April 17. “Stone — a relic of the past — remains an essential tool for writing the history of a region,” Salameh said at the event held at the National Museum in honor of what is also known as International Day for Monuments and Sites.“Heritage has a national dimension," Salameh said.
