On April 15, Jordanian authorities announced the arrest of 16 individuals on terrorism charges. Just over a week later, Interior Minister Mazen al-Faraya declared that the Muslim Brotherhood — accused of being behind the alleged plot — would be banned from all activity in the kingdom. The minister also ordered the closure of all its offices in Jordan.Speaking on Wednesday, April 23, Faraya accused the group of trying to destabilize the country and acquire weapons. The 16 suspects are charged with the possession and manufacture of arms, including rockets with a range of no more than five kilometers, according to authorities.
