BEIRUT — The Internal Security Forces (ISF) said in a statement on Friday that it destroyed a quantity of seized narcotic substances in a sealed crusher in the village of Bsalim (Metn).

According to the statement, the Central Anti-Narcotics Bureau of the Judicial Police Unit destroyed the substances based on the reference of the competent judiciary.

The seized items that were destroyed were as follows: 65.5 kilograms of cocaine, 13 kg crack cocaine, 2.636 kg of heroin, 354.3 kg of cannabis, 30.9 kg of marijuana, 7,000,249 Captagon pills, 88.1 kg of salvia, 41.5 kg of unidentified powder and substances, 71,895 tranquilizer pills, 1,271 MDMA pills and 12.6 kg of tobacco.

The ISF has previously destroyed seized narcotic substances in different parts of Lebanon.

The Lebanese army also announced on Friday that it arrested individuals wanted for possessing drugs and for other offenses.

“On Friday, an army unit backed by a patrol from the Intelligence Directorate raided the homes of wanted individuals in the Qasr-Hermel area and arrested (K.Z.) and (M.Z.) who are wanted for various crimes including kidnapping, human trafficking, weapons, drugs and theft," the army said in a statement relayed by the state-run National News Agency.

The army added that it found in their possession weapons, war ammunition and military equipment in addition to a quantity of drugs. The army also arrested a Syrian (A.A.) for trafficking drugs for them.

Moreover, two Army units supported by a patrol from the Intelligence Directorate also raided the homes of wanted individuals in the towns of Jadra (Chouf) and Haour Taala (Baalbek) and seized weapons and ammunition in addition to a quantity of narcotics.

"The seized items were handed over and the investigation of the arrested individuals began under the supervision of the competent judiciary," the army added.
