BEIRUT — After two Israeli airstrikes in recent weeks, residents of Beirut's southern suburbs are once again considering whether they need to leave their homes for safer neighborhoods, after a mere four months of calm since a cease-fire brought near-nightly bombardments to an end. Many, however, are choosing to stay, and others still are unable to afford relocating, despite fearing for their safety.In September 2024, following its assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, during which four buildings were turned to rubble, the Israeli air force started violently attacking the southern suburbs, forcing the majority of people living there into displacement.
