U.S. envoy Morgan Ortagus met Sunday morning with Finance Minister Yassine Jaber, Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon Karim Souhaid and Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Bsat, according to a statement from Yassine Jaber's office.

Jaber clarified that the discussions focused on the reforms Lebanon must implement to convince the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to accept the country into a financial assistance program. A meeting between Lebanese representatives and IMF officials is scheduled during the spring meetings organized by the IMF and the World Bank in Washington, from April 21 to 26.

Lebanon has been in crisis since late 2019, but has yet to implement the necessary reforms to clean up its financial sector and revive its economy, despite numerous calls from its international partners.
