Israel is outsourcing displacement, again

Recent reports indicate that U.S. and Israeli officials have engaged in secret discussions with Sudan, Somalia, and Somaliland regarding the potential resettlement of Gaza residents. According to the Associated Press, Washington and Tel Aviv have offered financial, diplomatic, and security incentives in exchange for these nations accepting displaced Gazans.The idea of forcibly relocating Palestinians is not new in Israeli political discourse. Six days after the Oct. 7 attack, Israel’s Intelligence Ministry drafted a proposal for expelling Gaza’s population to Sinai. The document, published in Israeli media, suggested the establishment of temporary tent cities followed by permanent settlements, and a buffer zone along the Egyptian border, preventing Palestinians from trying to return.
