Former ministers Georges Bouchikian, Amin Salam under investigation

Chief prosecutor Jamal Hajjar forwarded the files of the two former ministers to the Internal Security Forces (ISF) intelligence branch, which will investigate under his supervision, a judicial source told L’Orient-Le Jour.

With the country’s new political leadership committed to fighting corruption, acting top prosecutor Jamal Hajjar appears to be seriously examining suspicions of bribery involving Georges Bouchikian and Amin Salam, respectively, former ministers of Industry and Economy.A first request to open a judicial inquiry was filed last Wednesday by the editor-in-chief of the news site Beirut Time, Riad Tawk, against Bouchikian.
