Cabinet began a meeting on Thursday at the Grand Serail to discuss the mechanism to be implemented for administrative appointments, reports the state-run National News Agency (NNA).

According to our information, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam is expected to speak at the end of the meeting. On Monday, Information Minister Paul Morcos stated, following an extraordinary Cabinet, that a methodology has been adopted and will be announced after Thursday's session.

Many positions of responsibility are managed on an interim basis in Lebanon, a consequence of more than two years of presidential vacancy. Among the senior positions to be filled are the governor of the Banque du Liban (BDL), currently held on an interim basis by Wassim Missouri since the end of Riad Salamé's term in 2023, and the board of directors of the country's only public channel, Télé Liban.

However, the Cabinet will not meet on Friday to appoint the new governor of the BDL, as a broad consensus around a candidate has not yet matured, according to our information. “The issue is not yet on the agenda of the Cabinet,” a source close to Baabda said.
