Lebanese Information Minister Paul Morcos submitted his declaration of assets and interests to the National Anti-Corruption Commission on Monday, reports the National News Agency (NNA).

Morcos met on this occasion with Judge Claude Karam, who heads this commission, established by law No. 175 on May 8, 2020, but only formed at the end of January 2022. He also met with its members and submitted his asset declaration following his assumption of office as minister.

Last Monday, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam also submitted his declaration of assets and interests to this commission.

The registration of asset and wealth declarations of officials and public agents is part of the prerogatives of this commission. The law stipulates that anyone holding a public office ranging from the 4th category up to the position of President must submit their declaration shortly after assuming office. If this is not done, they are considered as having resigned, among other legal consequences.
