Two Lebanese-American U.S. Congress members: Hezbollah must be distanced from Cabinet
In a missive to President Donald Trump, Darin LaHood and Darrell Issa called for all aid to Lebanon to be conditional on reforms and, above all, the exclusion of Hezbollah and its allies.

In a rather direct move, two Republican representatives in U.S. Congress of Lebanese origin, Darin LaHood and Darrell Issa, sent U.S. President Donald Trump a letter on Jan. 28, setting out their expectations regarding the future Lebanese Cabinet. In the missive — which President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister-designate Nawaf Salam received a toned-down version of — LaHood and Issa warned against including figures from Hezbollah and its allies in the future Cabinet.The letter was also sent to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and his deputy, Morgan Ortagus.
