Jean-Marie Le Pen dead at 96

Jean-Marie Le Pen, a prominent figure of the French far right and a finalist in the 2002 presidential election, died on Tuesday at the age of 96 in Garches (Hauts-de-Seine), at a facility where he had been admitted several weeks ago.

"Jean-Marie Le Pen, surrounded by his loved ones, was called to God this Tuesday at 12:00 p.m.," his family said in a statement shared with AFP.
