Israeli army launches drone strike on Tebna, in Saida district

BEIRUT — Almost 36 hours into the cease-fire an Israeli drone launched an airstrike against the village of Tebna, between Baissarieh and Kaakaieh al-Snoubar, in Saida district, southern Lebanon, but north of the Litani River. On Thursday afternoon, local residents reported the attack and ambulances have been dispatched to the scene.

Shortly before the strike, the Israeli army told local residents, via a post on the X account belonging to its Arabic-language spokesperson, to make “absolutely no movements south of the Litani River from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. tomorrow,” urging those already in the area “not to leave their homes.”

On Wednesday morning at 4 a.m., the cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah came into effect, and this attack could be considered in violation of the agreement, which, although it stipulates that Hezbollah should not attempt to regroup south of the Litani River, violations are to be dealt with by UNIFIL and the Lebanese Army.

The Israeli army said the attack was justified because it had "identified terrorist activity at a Hezbollah site, which contains medium-range missiles,” in a subsequent post on Adraee's X account. “Warplanes have eliminated the threat,” he added, claiming that the Israeli army is ”defeating any cease-fire violations.”
