Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati has called a cabinet meeting for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, according to a statement from the Grand Serail.
The meeting, set against the backdrop of Lebanon’s ongoing war and escalating clashes between Hezbollah and Israel, will address an agenda of at least 24 items, reviewed by L’Orient Today.
The first agenda item will focus on “salaries and allowances” for civil servants, while the second proposes a Treasury advance for the Defense Ministry to finance and recruit 1,500 additional soldiers. This force would be deployed in southern Lebanon as part of a potential agreement with Israel to implement U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701.
