At least seven people were killed on Sunday in an Israeli airstrike on a health center in Ain Baal, in southern Lebanon's Sour district. Among those killed were four women and three rescue workers from the al-Risala Scouts, a medical association affiliated with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri's Amal movement.
The strike targeted a health center operated by the association, which has been regularly struck by Israel along with its Hezbollah counterpart, the Islamic Health Committee, causing significant damage.
Following the strike, the Amal movement announced that three of its members were killed: Hassan Jechi, born in 1996; Mahdi Abdel Rida, born in 2003; and Hassan Keyki, born in 1981. All three were residents of Ain Baal. An initial statement from Amal also identified Keyki as a party "fighter."
Our correspondent in southern Lebanon reported that four women also lost their lives in the airstrike.
Lebanon's Health Ministry stated on Sunday that 167 rescue workers and medical personnel had been killed in Israeli strikes across the country since the war began on Oct. 8, 2023.
