BEIRUT — On Thursday morning Israeli airstrikes targeted a series of residential buildings in Bazouriyeh (Sour), local residents reported.
28-year-old Nour Chaito whose house was among those destroyed spoke to L'Orient Today.
Chaito got married on the night of Oct.7, and the next day Hezbollah opened a "unity front in support of the Palestinian resistance in Gaza." On Thursday morning she saw the images of her house that she worked hard to furnish with her husband.
“It’s heartbreaking that I furnished my house and prepared it but didn’t have the time to enjoy it. However, I can only thank God for all His blessings. My house is not more valuable than Sayyed [Hassan Nasrallah], who is now gone, killed in the war. If I have to pay the price of my house being destroyed in this war so that we can remain on our land and defend it, I don’t mind. What more can I say?” she concluded.
Around 1.5 million people have been displaced in Lebanon since fighting broke out between Hezbollah and Israel and further escalated on Sept. 23.
Over the past year, at least 2,141 people have been killed in Lebanon, with nearly 10,099 others injured, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
