"Our priority is to put an end to the Israeli aggression on Lebanon," Hezbollah MPs Hussein Hajj Hasan and Amin Sherri told reporters over the weekend, commenting on the possibility of a cease-fire in Lebanon regardless of a halt to hostilities in Gaza between Israel and Hamas.So far, however, the Lebanese party had opposed this scenario. Its former Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, who was assassinated by Israel, even "challenged" Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to break the link between the two fronts in one of his last speeches.Hezbollah’s recent openness contrasts, at least in appearance, with that of its Iranian backer, the mastermind behind the "unity of the resistance fronts."
