In a message posted on social media platform X, the Lebanese Army urged citizens "not to be drawn into actions that could harm civil peace during this dangerous period the country is facing, as the Israeli enemy seeks to implement its subversive plans and sow division among the Lebanese."
This message comes two days after a massive bombing in the southern suburbs of Beirut that targeted and killed Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.
"The Army Command will continue to take necessary security measures and fulfill its national duty to preserve civil peace; it calls on citizens to respond to these measures and act according to the principle of national unity, which remains the only guarantee for Lebanon," the statement added.
The announcement of the Hezbollah leader's death, confirmed Saturday, sent shockwaves through the Shiite community, but also sparked some celebrations in certain Christian and Sunni areas represented by political factions opposed to him.
