Lebanese Internal Security Forces announced on Tuesday the arrest in North Lebanon of three people suspected of involvement in drug trafficking and document falsification.

The police said they arrested last Saturday these three individuals, two Lebanese, a man born in 1991 and a woman born in 1996, as well as a Syrian born in 1980 in Mouhammara, in Akkar. They were "ambushed" and the police seized in their possession 500 grams of marijuana, 83 plastic bags containing a cocaine derivative, hashish in an unspecified quantity and four mobile phones. One of the three suspects also had a falsified Lebanese identity card and driving license, according to the ISF statement.

They confessed, according to the same source, to being involved in drug trafficking operations in the north of the country, in the counterfeiting of foreign currency and identity documents, as well as in the unauthorized search for archaeological remains.
