A fire that erupted in fields near Bebnine and Abdeh in the Akkar region, close to the maritime freeway, was swiftly contained by local firefighters, our North Lebanon correspondent Michel Hallak reported.
The blaze spread to agricultural greenhouses, causing material damage.
Police responded to the scene and have launched an investigation, as the fire is suspected to be premeditated, Hallak added.
Northern Lebanon has experienced numerous fires since the beginning of the summer. In June, the Environment Ministry warned of a significant increase in the risk of fires. While many of the fires' causes remain unknown, the combination of drought and high temperatures creates conditions that facilitate their rapid spread
