BEIRUT – On Thursday, the Health Ministry published its latest assessment of the clashes between Hezbollah and Israel in southern Lebanon. Based on hospital data up to and including July 9, 2024, it counts a total number of 1,904 casualties since Oct. 8, 2023, including 466 deaths and an additional 507 wounded requiring hospitalization.
These regular assessments published by the Health Ministry are based exclusively on hospital figures, while other data is made public by other sources.
According to L'Orient Today's latest count, on Thursday, at least 324 Hezbollah members alone have been killed since Oct. 8 in Lebanon (369 if those killed in Syria are included) and the total number of casualties in Lebanon is 488 people.
Of the total number of victims recorded by the ministry, both dead and injured, 86 percent were men and 95 percent were Lebanese nationals, 56 percent of whom were aged between 25 and 44. Of the injuries recorded by the ministry, 45 percent were due to trauma caused by Israeli bombardment, 33 percent to explosions and 16 percent to exposure to chemical products.
Citing figures from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the ministry reported that the number of people displaced from southern Lebanon since Oct. 8, the start of the conflict, stood at 96,829.
