BEIRUT — The Internal Security Forces (ISF) arrested a drug trafficker in the Hadath area (Baabda district) following a surveillance operation, the state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported on Saturday. The man, a Syrian born in 1999 and identified by the initials K.B., was caught in the act of dealing drugs, the NNA reports.

The accused reportedly confessed to being active in the areas of Kafaat, Hadath, Mreijeh and Hay al-Sellom (southern suburbs of Beirut). Weapons and various drugs were seized from his possession, the NNA report adds.

Separately, according to NNA, the Directorate General of General Security announced in a press release that it had arrested an Egyptian national, identified by the initials A.G.B., who had been disturbing the peace in several localities in the Metn area. He had allegedly provoked several disputes, shooting into the air and terrorizing local residents. General Security claimed to have been able to locate and arrest him and to have found in his possession two revolvers and a quantity of hashish. He was also, according to the report, found to have been residing illegally in Lebanon.
