BEIRUT — Lebanese Central Bank's governor Wassim Manssouri negated on Friday reports about the suspension of bank transfers and financial transactions between the UAE and Lebanon, according to a statement.

Earlier reports suggested that UAE banks decided to stop bank transfers and financial transactions with Lebanon because of the latter's classification as a high-risk country.

The rumors notably started after economic journalist Mounir Younis shared the news on X (formerly Twitter) and attached a screenshot of a chat between a customer and an Emirati bank to prove his point. However, he deleted his tweet later.

"The banking relationship between the United Arab Emirates, the Central Bank and commercial banks in Lebanon remains as it is, without change or modification," Manssouri wrote after communicating "with those directly concerned in the UAE."

"The news circulated is incorrect and is not issued by the management of any Emirati bank," Manssouri added.
