Free entry at National Museum, archeological sites until Sunday

BEIRUT — Beirut's National Museum and all archeological sites in Lebanon will be free of charge for the next four days, a spokesperson for the Culture Ministry told L'Orient Today.

The spokesperson said the move commemorates International Museum Day, which is celebrated worldwide on May 18. Entry will be free from Thursday, May 18 at 10 a.m. until Sunday, May 21 at 2 p.m.

"In spite of the situation we are going through in Lebanon, we are insistent to keep up and commemorate events that unite. From here, we invite everyone to the National Museum," said caretaker Culture Minister Mohammad Mortada in a press briefing from the National Museum on Wednesday.

Mortada also signed a Lebanese flag on display at the museum and urged "every Lebanese visitor" to do the same.
