BEIRUT — At least one person was killed in a house explosion in the neighborhood of Jamous in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Thursday, a Civil Defense spokesperson told L'Orient Today.
According to the spokesperson, the house is owned by a man who was arrested by the Lebanese Army last month for allegedly working as "an agent in the service of a foreign entity."
Two weeks ago, the army announced that they arrested the man, M.G., after an earlier explosion occurred in the same home on March 27. M.G. was allegedly making an explosive device in his apartment and was arrested by the army following the initial explosion.
Later in the day Thursday, Civil Defense confirmed to L'Orient Today the person killed in the most recent explosion was a woman.
