BEIRUT — Fuel prices sharply increased in Lebanon on Wednesday, according to the latest tariffs announced by the Energy Ministry. This new price hike comes hours after the lira again exceeded LL61,000 against the US dollar on the parallel market and just hours after the official lira to dollar peg was adjusted to LL15,000 to the dollar, instead of the LL1,507 exchange rate which had been in place for 25 years.

Here are the new prices:

• Twenty liters of 95-octane gasoline: LL1,160,000, up by LL78,000

• Twenty liters of 98-octane gasoline: LL1,186,000, up by LL79,000

• Twenty liters of diesel: LL1,197,000, up by LL79,000

• Gas cylinder: LL734,000, up by LL49,000

•One kiloliter of fuel oil (used to supply private generators) at $909.73, up by $21.44
