Four people were injured during a family dispute marked by heavy gunfire in Bab al-Tabbaneh, a neighborhood of Tripoli, in northern Lebanon Friday night, according to L'Orient-Le Jour's correspondent in the region.

Among the victims was a Syrian child, who was hit in the head by a stray bullet.

Numerous gunshots injured three members of the Dabab family. The child, who was in a nearby street, was taken to Mounla Hospital in Tripoli, where he underwent surgery to remove the bullet from his skull. He was then transferred to the city's government hospital for further care.

The Lebanese Army was deployed to the scene to contain the incident and several arrests were made, according to our correspondent.

Local residents lamented that many cars and buildings were damaged by the gunfire. The army has opened an investigation into the incident.

In the midst of a full economic collapse, Lebanon's security situation has considerably deteriorated. In Tripoli, Lebanon's poorest city, a shooting recently left four people dead and several security officials fear the spread of further chaos throughout the country.
