BEIRUT — Unidentified attackers killed four people, including two brothers, and injured another person Friday after reportedly firing military-grade guns at a cell phone shop in the al-Tal neighborhood of Tripoli, North Lebanon, according to L'Orient Today's correspondents in the area.

The masked perpetrators also threw a hand grenade that did not explode after attempting to rob the phone shop.

The owner of the shop and those who were with him confronted the shooters, which led to an exchange of fire, killing four people: two brothers hailing from Bebnin, Akkar, the owner who succumbed to his wounds, and a fourth unidentified person.

The shooting shattered the front glass window of the al-Hosni store. The Lebanese Army reportedly arrived at the scene, imposed a security cordon and began investigations to determine the shooters' identities. The army also worked on removing one of the grenades from the shop.

Security incidents of this kind have increased recently in Lebanon, including in Tripoli, the country's poorest city, as Lebanon reels from a deepening economic crisis.

One woman was killed Sunday during a shooting in al-Mutran Street in Tripoli, after a fight broke out between a group of men, according to L’Orient Today’s correspondents in the area. Army intelligence officers arrested one suspect in relation to the shooting,
