Shooting in Tripoli leaves one dead

BEIRUT —  One woman was killed Sunday during a shooting in al-Mutran Street in Tripoli, after a fight broke out between a group of men, according to L’Orient Today’s correspondents in the area.

Here’s what we know:

   • According to our correspondents, the victim, who was not identified by name, was the wife of activist Khaled al-Deek, and was with with her husband in the area at the time of  the shooting. Following the incident, she was taken in critical condition to Al-Mounla Hospital, where she died a short time later.

   • The army immediately deployed to the scene, and investigations are being pursued by the relevant security services under the supervision of the competent judiciary. Army intelligence officers have so far arrested one suspect in relation to the shooting, our correspondents said.

  • A video circulating on social media on Sunday evening shows a convoy of motorcycles protesting the woman's killing, with sounds of shooting in the air in the background.
