Energy Ministry sets new monthly prices for metered generators

BEIRUT — The Energy Ministry on Monday set the price of the kilowatt per hour produced by metered private generators in July at LL13,545.

Here’s what we know:

    • This indicated a decrease of 0.08 percent compared to the price in June which stood at LL13,556.

    • In accordance with the terms and conditions applied, this rate must be increased by 10 percent in regions that are more than 700 meters above sea level.

    • The July tariff was calculated on the basis of the average price of fuel estimated at LL692,733 per 20 liters. This price indicates a decrease of 0.41 percent in comparison with the previous month which stood at LL695,643 for 20 liters of fuel.

    • The Ministry stated that it had also included the additional costs incurred by generator operators (change of oil, filters and other generator parts), as well as the depreciation cost of the generator itself, at an exchange rate of LL29,473 to the dollar.
