BEIRUT — A fire broke out in forested lands on the outskirts of the town of al-Dora in the Jouma area of Akkar, L’Orient Today’s correspondent in the region reported.

Here’s what we know:
• The fire is expanding in several locations and there is fear that, due to high temperatures and active winds, the fire will spread in different directions.
• Civil Defense teams, residents and environmental activists are working on trying to control the fire.
• Caretaker Environment Minister Nasser Yassin said that contact had been made with army command who said they would intervene immediately.
• The Akkar region is regularly ravaged by fires. On June 21, a fire broke out in Wadi Jahannam, also in Akkar, and earlier the same month in Safinat al-Kaytaa.
