BEIRUT — Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met on Friday with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain al-Tineh ahead of an Arab League meeting scheduled for Saturday in Lebanon, as part of preparations for the Arab League summit that will be held in Algiers next fall, L’Orient Today’s correspondent reported.

Here’s what we know:

    • According to our correspondent, the meeting was also attended by the Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon Ibrahim Abdel Aziz al-Sahlaoui in which relations between Lebanon and Qatar were discussed.

    • Yesterday Qatar announced it will donate $60 million in aid to the Lebanese Army, part of its support for the country that is suffering from an unprecedented economic crisis.

    • Several Arab foreign ministers arrived in Beirut on Thursday to attend the meeting of the Arab League on Saturday.

    • The Arab League meeting comes at a time following last year’s tensions between Lebanon and some Gulf countries, which has been resolved after an Arab roadmap for restoring relations with Lebanon was transmitted to Beirut by Kuwait in January.
