BEIRUT — Kataeb Party leader Sami Gemayel on Saturday announced the “Metn the Change” electoral list for the Mount Lebanon II voting district, in which he is also a candidate, for the May 15 Parliamentary elections.
Here’s what we know:
• In a speech Saturday, Gemayel reiterated his party’s opposition to Hezbollah, saying it was “committed to confronting Hezbollah’s stranglehold on Lebanon and to developing the political system, starting with administrative decentralization.”
• "The next elections are a referendum between two methods: that of slogans, compromises, abandonment, narrow interests and lies, and ours, that of resilience, clarity and competence,” he said.
• The Mount Lebanon II electoral district, which covers the Metn area, is considered a favorable region by all major Christian parties. The upcoming elections in the region are poised to be a voting battleground for the eight seats up for grabs: four Maronite ones, two Greek Orthodox, one Greek Catholic, and Armenian Orthodox.
