BEIRUT – President Michel Aoun signed decrees on Friday approving social assistance programs, including cash grants, education support and increased transportation allowances, the presidency shared in a statement.

Here’s what we know:

The sum received by day laborers and technical service providers will be determined by a decision issued by the finance minister.

    • Aoun also signed a decree granting parents working in the public sector LL1 million per student in their household enrolled in a public or tuition-free school or university, and LL2 million per student enrolled in a private institution. This benefit will be capped at three children or LL4 million. The decree stipulates that the child must be over the age of three by the end of January and under the age of 25 to qualify.
