BEIRUT — The Lebanese lira continued to make gains against the dollar Sunday, trading at below LL24,000 on the parallel market.
Here’s what we know:
• Since Friday, the lira has appreciated against the dollar on the parallel market, having on Tuesday reached a record low when it traded at more than LL33,000 to the greenback for the first time since the start of Lebanon’s economic crisis more than two years ago.
• The lira’s appreciation is largely linked to the central bank’s invention in the currency market. On Friday, Banque du Liban injected $41.5 million into the market.
