BEIRUT — New fuel prices announced by the Energy Ministry Friday show a decrease in the cost of gasoline, diesel and cooking gas.
Here’s what we know:
• The price of 20 liters of 95-octane and 98-octane gasoline dropped by LL2,200 reaching LL375,600 and LL388,400 respectively.
• Diesel fuel decreased by LL11,600 and now costs LL398,400. The price of a tank of cooking gas also fell, decreasing by LL9.800 to reach LL349,700.
• George Brax, a spokesperson for gas station owners, attributed the decrease in prices to the slight increase in the lira’s value against the US dollar on the parallel market. Brax claimed importers are paying LL31,237 per US dollar today, whereas they paid LL32,187 on Thursday.
