BEIRUT — Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement that it rejected 13,976 applications from Lebanese expats who registered to vote on the platform, as they did not meet “the conditions stipulated for registration, or because of [multiple registrations], and the expiry of the legal period” to submit applications.

•  The statement read that “on midnight Saturday 20/11/2021 the number of registered voters on the platform and in diplomatic missions reached 244,442.”

•  It went on to say that the ministry “[had] been sending the lists received from missions abroad to the General Directorate of Personal Status” until yesterday, when the total number of registered voters reached 230,466.

•  On Oct. 28, Parliament voted on amendments to the electoral law, which included moving the polling date to March 27. The legislature previously approved changing the date from May to March, but President Michel Aoun refused to sign-off on that. The law became effective five days after the second vote, without Aoun’s signature.
